Install → connect → pick the model → roast. Everything you need to start in four steps.

1. Install

Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit): run NorthCoffeeRoasters_Setup_x.y.z.exe. If SmartScreen warns about an unknown publisher, choose More info → Run anyway.
Android 8.0+: install NorthCoffeeRoasters_x.y.z_release.apk, allow "Install unknown apps", then grant Bluetooth and notification permissions.
Updates: Settings → About → Check for updates compares against this server.

2. Connect the roaster (pick one)

Bluetooth (Windows / Android)

Pair the roaster in the OS first, then choose Bluetooth in the app's Device panel.
"Connection unstable" is usually RF jitter; move closer. It only reconnects automatically after 45 s without data.

USB serial (Windows / Android OTG)

Plug in the USB-RS485 / CH340 adapter, choose Serial, press Refresh and pick the COM port.
Linux needs the user in the dialout group; Windows needs the proper driver.

Modbus TCP (Ethernet gateway)

Choose Network, enter the gateway IP and port (default 502), e.g. 192.168.4.1.
A Modbus TCP ↔ RS485 gateway is required; its register map must match the serial protocol.
This is the only path on iOS and macOS — those systems provide neither serial ports nor classic Bluetooth SPP.

3. Start roasting

Pick the machine model in the Device panel — it selects the register map and baud rate.
Load a profile from Profiles, or start directly.
Markers are recorded automatically: recovery, yellow, first crack, end of first crack, second crack, drop.
After drop, export the curve and time table (xls / cloud).

4. FAQ

Blank screen after launch

Reinstall with the latest installer. If it persists, send us the files in the logs folder.

"Up to date" but the version is old

Make sure the device can reach fukaitong.cn; corporate networks sometimes block port 8443.

Bluetooth connects but no data

Usually a wrong machine model (register map mismatch). Switch to the correct model and reconnect.

Network mode cannot reach the gateway

Ping the gateway from a PC on the same subnet, confirm port 502 is open, and match the gateway serial settings (9600/19200, 8N1).

License / activation

Activate from the bottom of Settings → About. Changing the mainboard or the package name changes the device fingerprint and requires re-activation.

This is proprietary software. Bundled third-party components such as Qt are distributed under LGPL-3.0 and similar licenses — see Third-party & open-source notices.
Settings → Open-source licenses in the app shows the same text plus how to obtain the Qt sources.
